The Genentech Bioinformatics Department seeks an exceptionally talented andmotivated individual to apply oncogenomics in the selection of patient populations for Genentech therapeutic products. Responsibilities will include the development of informatics tools for discovery of molecular markers and signatures, application of these tools to develop diagnostics, and research into the pathways and other biological mechanisms underlying drug response.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with and support of scientists from our Diagnostics, Research and Clinical Departments. Work will include analysis of molecular profiling data from oncology databases, in vitro experiments and clinical samples. As a part of these collaborative efforts, you will have access to our extensive computational resources and genomic, microarray, and clinical data to identify patient populations that benefit from improved drug efficacy or safety.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent experience in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics or a related field, including at least 2 years in bioinformatics, preferably as postdoctoral research. He/she must also be fluent in Perl, Unix, and a high level programming language such as C or Java, and have experience with relational databases and statistical analysis.
